Let Your Puppy Know Who Is Boss

From the very first day that you bring your little puppy home you have to set some ground rules. You must let him know that you are the leader of the pack… You are the boss. I am going to give you five undisputable tips that will without a doubt let you teach your cute little puppy who is boss.

  1. Never make the mistake of feeding your dog before you feed yourself. You are the master, which means that you eat first, and your puppy eats second. After a while of doing this your puppy will come to realize that he will have to wait his turn.

  2. Create a “Time Out Corner” or some location that is specifically set aside where you can place your puppy when he or she is bad. When you catch your dog being bad firmly tell him “NO” and then take him over to the time out corner and once again tell him “NO”. This will let him know that he has defiantly done something wrong and he also knows the consequences.

  3. When you first bring your puppy home chances are that he will whine. It is only natural that you will want to run to him just like a baby crying. This is the worst thing possible that you could do. If you do choose to run to your puppy every time that he whines he will think that by whining he will be rewarded. Eventually that whine will turn into barking whenever he wants your attention.

  4. If you wish to spare your shoes and other household items it’s best to always have a chew toy for your puppy to play with. Anytime you catch him going to your shoe take it from him… firmly say “NO” take him to his time out corner then give him his chew toy.

  5. Never… Ever… buy your puppy a chew toy that looks anything like something that you have in your home. This will do nothing but confuse your dog.

  6. Do your homework on what it is that you are feeding your puppy. It has been discovered that most dog food companies are not telling you the truth. Make sure to visit http:///www.a1dogtraininfinfo.com for more information on this subject. It could mean the difference between your puppy’s life or death.

  7. Educate yourself on the best dog/puppy training strategies. This is extremely important that you REALLY take time to do this because most owners are still using old school methods of dog training that is bad for you and your puppy/dog.

I truly hope that you have found these 7 basic tips to be of value and that you will share them with others.
